Imperative Energy Limited has been awarded the project to supply a moving grate boiler UTSR 900 and Toploader fuel handling system to the Arden Lea Nursery in Lancashire.  The nursery grows, packages and distributes bedding plants to the multiple retailers.

Stonyhurst UTSR900

A new biomass boiler forms part of a complete refurbishment of the school’s energy centre and is fed from locally supplied wood chip fuel.  The boarding school has a continuous heat
load distributed around the site which suits the Schmid UTSR boiler.  The boiler was recently installed using a specialist lift and shift company and a Megalift lowered the boiler into
position within the semi-basement energy centre.

Lancaster University UTSR1200

The boiler and fuel store have been installed within an existing energy centre which feeds the university campus via a district heating network.  Restrictions on the site dictated that the
fuel store needed integrating into the building and so the Toploader was the preferred solution for the fuel handling system and facilitates walking floor articulated vehicles to discharge into the high capacity fuel store.  The biomass boiler is an integrated element within the energy centre which comprises gas fired CHP and supplementary gas fired boilers.

Renewable Heat Incentive – Emissions Certification

From September 24th, all new registrations for the Renewable Heat Incentive must be accompanied by a suitable emissions certificate for the boiler plant to be registered, except in cases where an environmental permit has been specified as part of the planning stage . The needs of the certificate have been split between boilers of less than 500kW output and boilers in excess of 500kW, but for more details please see https://www.gov.uk/government/policies/increasing-the-use-of-low-carbon-technologies/supporting-pages/renewable-heat-incentive-rhi

We have been working closely with our partner, Schmid AG, and are pleased to announce that we expect to be able to issue certificates for the full range on boilers available from Schmid by the end of 2013. These certificates will be based on testing data amassed by Schmid from their full spectrum of installations across Europe.”

Imperative Energy Accredited CHAS Member

Imperative Energy Ltd is delighted to announce we are accredited within the Contractors Health and Safety assessment Scheme (CHAS) having demonstrated compliance with and sound management of current basic health and safety legislation.  CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK.

The campus is heated by a district heating system operated from a centralised energy centre which contains 2 Schmid UTSK wood-chip boilers supplied by Imperative Energy Ltd. The state of the art boilers provide a sustainable and renewable solution to the provision of heat for all facilities on the campus. This will realise annual savings on heating costs in the order of 40%  Imperative Energy Ltd has also been awarded the fuel supply and maintenance agreement for the energy centre.

Glosfume Filter brings Schmid Biomass Boiler emissions below WID Standards

A 1 MW Schmid biomass wood fired boiler heating a 2 acre green house at Castel, Guernsey has had a Glosfume BMF4400 ceramic filter fitted. The addition has been a phenomenal success with the emissions now lower than required by WID. The biomass boiler consumes c.1,000 tonnes of the waste wood (about one third of the waste wood collected on the island each year). Using this clean waste wood for fuel saves the Island each year over £200,000 of land fill costs. The actual emissions are now lower than the requirement of WID:
